Four Things to Do in New Hope Pennsylvania

Across the river from the heart of Lambertville is a serene and idyllic town, Pennsylvania’s border gem of New Hope. Less than 5 minutes away from our showroom of handmade furniture in New Jersey’s Lambertville lies New Hope. Formerly regarded as the halfway point between Pennsylvania and New York back in the days of old, it is now nicknamed “Coryell’s Ferry”, and thrives off of its small but meaningful tourism market. It’s definitely worthwhile to check out New Hope while if you’re in the Lambertville area, or worth it all on its own!ng the blooming period.

Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve

If you’re planning to look at wildflowers make sure you come during the blooming period. Typically in the month of May, Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve showcases the natural beauty of Pennsylvania native wildflowers. However, their website provides an accurate blooming period for all seasons. In addition to wildflowers, you can enjoy serene settings on the waterfront, flanked by a marvelous array of trees and other national wildlife. To ensure the best experience possible, call ahead and confirm what will be in season during your visit, and make sure it will be nice and sunny!

New Hope Railroad

The New Hope Railroad is a historic venue, venturing through the hills and valleys of Bucks County on tracks that were laid over 120 years ago! This is an entertaining and educational adventure perfect for riders of all ages. You can relive the golden age of rail travel and take a front row seat as you take in the passing scenery of streams, scenic farmland, historic buildings, bridges and surroundings. On-board narration, provided on most trips, detail the history and folklore of the railroad, the towns, as well as points of interest along the line. Tickets go fast, however, so make certain you’ve reserved your seats in advance.

Nakashima Woodworkers

In 1945, George Nakashima opened his woodworking business simply to earn a living. Now, Nakashima Woodworkers continues to custom-mill sustainably harvested hardwoods, creating what they call the “antiques of the future”. The whole property is a shrine to peace and tranquility, and exhibits an artistry unparalleled in contemporary furniture craft.

Georga Nakashima’s imagination and love of nature’s beauty in wood continues today through his daughter and son, Mira and Kevin, and craftspeople of the Woodworkers team. Nakashima Woodworkers is a wonderful learning experience, where seeing and smelling the creation of furniture from slabs of wood that have unique and beautiful characteristics allows you to truly experience the serene art of woodworking. Please note, photography is not allowed inside the workshop.

Paxson Hill Farm and Gardens

Found in the quiet woods of Bucks County, Paxson Hill Farm and Gardens is a sprawling 32-acre experience of many rare plants and artistic sculpture. A trip here can include leisurely strolling through different gardens, or checking out the greenhouse to purchase from a wide variety of plants, shrubs, annuals and perennials to take home! Amongst its various garden attractions, there is a maze, shade gardens, formal gardens, ponds, a bell garden, and sculptures; Paxson Hill is a beautiful location perfect for a cool spring or summer day.

Rice’s Flea Market

Rice’s Flea Market, the oldest and largest outdoor market in Bucks County, is an indoor and outdoor shopper’s paradise. Rice’s Market has long been a destination for locals and tourists that seek a unique and eclectic bargain shopping experience, and attracts over 8,000 shoppers per week.

At Rice’s, you may find anything from fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade dog treats, antiques, clothing, jewelry, hats, and anything else you might expect to run into at a flea market. Parking is only $1, and food and drinks are available indoors and outdoors. Rice’s is open from March all the way through December, on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7:00am to 1pm.
